Langton Hughes' poem, "Mother to Son,"accurately reflects life because of the lessons it shows.
We can realize what the poem is trying to convey , and it can help us make a good decision . This poem tells from a mother point of view to her son to "never give up on life." The mother tells her son that "life for her has not been a crystal stair" meaning that her life wasn't perfect.
Langton Hughes uses diction to portray the mother's character. The mother says,"I'se been a climbing'" by the way she spokes shows that she's an uneducated black woman that may be from the country.
In the Langton Hughes poem, the mother also uses metaphors by comparing her life that has not been a crystal stair to a poorer life. She says "its has tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up , And places with no carpet on the floor, just bare."
This poem reflects a mother giving her son advise to never give up on life and to not make the same mistake that she did.
